EveryTrail for Blackberry is now live! Here you can find the link to install it over the air from your BlackBerry device or from your computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software.
The EveryTrail Blackberry app makes it very easy to capture your GPS tracks and photos using your GPS-enabled Blackberry Curve, and then upload your trips directly to EveryTrail.
Please note that the app is optimized for the Blackberry Curve. It does function on other GPS-enabled BlackBerry models such Bold and Pearl, but the difference in screen size causes layout issues on other devices. The Blackberry Storm is not supported at this point.
Please report feedback on the EveryTrail forums.
It is our strategy to partner with 3rd party mobile app developers to bring EveryTrail functionality to even more mobile users around the world. If you are interested in developing Mobile Apps using the EveryTrail API, please get in touch with us. Since the EveryTrail Blackberry app is optimized for the Blackberry Curve, we are especially interested in talking to developers who are interested in adding EveryTrail integration to apps for Blackberry Bold, Storm and Pearl.
I get gps not supported in this format error on my curve, help…
Congratulations for this release. I wonder if you have plans to build a Symbian application for all the Nokia and Samsung phone owners, like me.
Thanks
Do you have the BlackBerry aplication for the BB 8110?
Thank you,
Gonzalo GG
I have the BlackBerry Curve 8310
I installed this app and received this Error: missing module net_rim_xml_org
How can I fix?

Hi GuyThaLizard,
The problem might be due to an incompatible early version of the BlackBerry operating system on your phone. EveryTrail for BlackBerry will only work with version 4.3 and higher. Could you check to see if you are running version 4.2?
The way to check this is to go to Applications –> Options –> About. The version should be listed.
I believe that the most current version of the OS that the 8310 supports is 4.5 so I would recommend downloading and installing that. You can find the 4.5 BlackBerry Desktop Software and device software at this link:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/#tab_tab_desktop
Hope this solves your problem.
I also keep getting “gps not supported in this format” error on my curve, help
Re: “gps not supported in this format”
mercer grimes & ThatOneGuy: Can you provide more context about the error you are getting. When does the error message get displayed? Is it upon launching the application for the first time? Is it when you upload a trip?
It would also be useful to know your device model number and the version of BB Operating System that you are using.
PAblo,
I get the error when launching the program. I have a blackberry curve 8330. v4.5.0.77 software
ThatOneGuy,
Thank you for helping diagnose the problem. I have compiled a version of the app specifically for version 4.5 of the BlackBerry OS. Hopefully this solves the issue with launching the app on your device. You can find it at the EveryTrail BlackBerry Application download page:
http://www.everytrail.com/bbapps
Hi Pablo,
Thanks so much for trying but unfortunately am still getting the same “GPS is not supported on this platform. Now exiting” error when trying to load the application (the one for 4.5+)
ThatOneGuy,
Thank you for your patience and I’m sorry that we haven’t gotten it to work yet. Now that I see the exact text of the error message, I have a better idea of what might be causing the problem. I believe that the Location privileges for the EveryTrail app might not be set correctly on your device.
When you have a chance please download version 1.0.6 app at this location: http://www.everytrail.com/bbapps/beta/curve/everytrail.jad
Hi there Pablo,
Downloaded that version, installed but got the same exact error as before . . . “GPS is not supported on this platform. Now exiting”.
ThatOneGuy,
I thought of a very simple thing that might be causing the problem. Please go to:
Applications –> Options –> Advanced Options –> GPS, and confirm that for the ‘GPS Services’ setting, ‘Location ON’ is selected.
Dear EveryTrail,
I tried the software on my Curve 8900 and it is great! However, I have a problem connecting to the website to upload my trips. I registered and using the same user/password. It keeps saying I’m not registered. I was wondering, is there any way I can export the Everytrail data from my Blackberry to my desktop instead of uploading to the website?
I have used Smap from Sanoodi and it lets you export the trips as either GPX or KML files and it stores them on your Blackberry in a folder, so it is easy to copy over to the PC and open in Google Earth directly. If the data from EveryTrail exists somewhere on the Blackberry please let me know. I can write a program to parse through and extract the data if I know the format it’s in and location. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Edy
hi, i’ve already download this software in version 1.07 but i’m still have the problem to sing in , the BB display an error ” Sorry, error authenticating”
any kind of help ? i have OS 4.5.081 BB curve 8310
Pablo,
Yes, it is set to “Location On” and still giving me the same error
Hi Edy,
Currently the BlackBerry app exports the location data to GPX format directly before upload and does not save the gpx file on the device. However, since this has been a much requested feature by our users we will make sure to include in version 1.1. Thanks for the feedback!
eduardo,
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems authenticating. Do you receive the error message when you are trying to upload a trip, or is it when you try to ‘Sign In’ when the app starts? Are you able to log into http://www.everytrail.com with the same username and password?
I’m unsure yet of the cause of this problem, but we’re working on it.
Anyone else have any ideas on my issue above?
I too am unable to get past “GPS is not supported in this format.” I GPS is set to “location on.” This occurs when the application is attempted to be started on the BB. 8330 v. 4.5.0.77
ThatOneGuy & David,
Is your carrier Verizon? Doing some research I just came across this article (
http://www.blackberrycool.com/2008/12/gps-now-unlock-for-verizon-blackberry-8130-and-8330-blackberry-bytes/) which indicates that Verizon has disabled GPS functionality for 3rd party apps. Sorry that you’re not able to run the app, but we’ll keep trying to track down the problem.
Pablo,
Yes my carrier is Verizon.
Hi there – I installed the latest version for the Bold – when I try to sign up or sign in (have verified that my login info works on a PC) it instantly tells me it failed, gving ‘null’ as the error message. Any ideas? I have done battery pulls, I have OS 4.6.0.216, I have Wi-Fi and 3G connections, BIS…
I get a “Sorry, error authenticating” when I try to sign on with my existing user name and password.
Blackberry 8330 on Sprint with no Blackberry package (SERO customer)
I tried to sign up as a new user using my existing user name and password and received an “Error Signing up: 401″
I tried a new user name and got a “email already in use”
I used an alternate email successfully. Anyway to consolidate my accounts?
Blackberry program worked great for three times, now will not open. Every time I click on the icon it just freezes.
I can’t login in my huron 8800.
It says wrong authentication.
I put the exact username and password.
Anyone in everytrail can help me?
Rafael
I love this application. I have tried all the other ones (that are free) from the blackberry appworld. While it is moderately difficult to use with my storm, its end result is the same. Couple of the buttons dont work, but the picture, stop/start, setting buttons all work just fine. You also have to “scroll” using the touch screen which is a bit difficult. Great app and i look forward to it becoming more compatible with the storm.
How do I get the “Trails” App on my blackberry – is it available? It looks like you can see your elevation on that app but not on the regular EveryTrail app. Is it only available for iphones? Also is there a way to get a compass on EveryTrail or is that something that is part of the Trails app?

I really like using this app on my BlackBerry 8900 but I can’t find instructions for use. For example, what does the “Record View” button do? Also, it does not upload the photos I take while making a track. Error message, “Some of your photos did not upload”. And finally, the “Map” button is great except the map is very slow and not detailed. Any possibility to use Google Maps? Thanks!
really nice blog and design, ill add this to my twitter later this evening now.
I would like to be able to see the basic data of my previous trips from my phone, under My Trips, such as the duration and distance. Is this possible?
Sirs
